Neighborhood Parks & Green Spaces

Disused Riverfront Park

Route 3 at the foot of Court St · 1.8 acres

The original site of Ezekiel Hobart's surveying stone (1823). The park is subject to seasonal flooding and is not maintained to active-use standards. The surveying stone remains in place. Benches were removed in 2014 following a structural assessment. The park is open to the public but the Village assumes no responsibility for conditions below the flood line.

Fayette Triangle

Intersection of Fayette St and S. Gallia St · 0.03 acres

A triangular grass median created by the 1967 road realignment. Contains one bench (donated 1988, plaque illegible) and a small Norway maple.

Founders Rest

A narrow strip of grass between the sidewalk and the retaining wall. Designated as parkland in 1976 during a federal beautification grant application. Contains two benches and a trash receptacle.

Adena Rest

Adena St near Park Ave · 0.07 acres

A small grassy area adjacent to the sidewalk. The Department installed an interpretive sign in 2003 describing the history of the Adena Street corridor. The sign was replaced in 2009 after weather damage. The replacement sign references the original sign. One bench.

Canal Trace

Canal District, between W. 2nd St and the alley · 0.15 acres

A narrow linear park following the approximate route of the original canal. The canal itself was filled in 1903. The park consists of a gravel path and a single historical marker.

Bridge Landing

Route 3 at the east approach to the Hobart-Guthrie Bridge · 0.05 acres

A small grassy area at the Ohio side of the bridge approach. Contains a flagpole and a concrete pad where a historical marker was previously mounted. The marker was removed for restoration in 2017 and has not been returned.

Roundabout Green

0.02 acres

The center island of a proposed roundabout. The roundabout has not been constructed. The island has been maintained as a park since the feasibility study was published in 2008. Contains grass.

Gallia Heights Mini-Park

N. Gallia St, adjacent to the water towers · 0.06 acres

A flat grassy area between the road and the utility fence line. Designated as a park in 1995 following a boundary dispute between the Village and HMUC over maintenance responsibility. Contains no amenities.

Symmes Landing

Foot of Symmes St at Route 3 · 0.11 acres

A narrow strip of grass between the road and the riverbank. Features a concrete boat ramp (condition: submerged at normal river levels). The ramp was constructed in 1972. It has been accessible approximately 40% of the time since installation. A sign reading "Boat Ramp" remains posted.

The Mulberry Culvert

Off Mulberry St, near the diagonal cut between Mulberry and Court St (adjacent to the Mystery Utility Building)

A concrete box culvert carrying an unnamed seasonal drainage channel. The culvert has been a point of public interest for reasons the Department has not determined. It does things. Residents gather periodically to observe it. A seasonal concession (hot dogs or sno cones, depending on the year) operates near the site during warmer months. The area surrounding the culvert is maintained by the Department. The Department does not interpret the culvert's behavior and has no comment on its significance.
